Crumps’ Naturals products are manufactured in Canada. We adhere to our own strict guidelines for both food safety and quality as well as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, US Food and Drug Administration and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) International. We are continually audited by these external agencies to ensure that we are manufacturing products that are of the highest quality and meet their requirements. We have exceeded international quality and safety standards with our “Global Food Safety Certifications” from 2014 to present scoring consistently in the excellent range, year after year. Feel free to read more about our Food Safety initiatives.
Our products are manufactured to the highest international quality benchmarks in our own manufacturing facility allowing us to maintain tight controls and rigorous food safety and quality standards. All Crumps’ Naturals products meet or exceed the AAFCO approved standards.
Crumps’ Naturals does not and will not source any of our ingredients from China.
All of Crumps’ Naturals products are gently dehydrated at a low temperature to preserve the nutritional integrity of each product. Measures like time, temperature, water activity and moisture are documented and monitored with each batch to ensure shelf stability. Learn more about our Food Safety Initiatives here!
All of the ingredients used in our recipes come from human-grade facilities. Our quality control team works closely with all suppliers to ensure the ingredients not only meet, but exceed our stringent requirements. However, because our manufacturing facilities are used to produce pet food, the finished products cannot be classified as human grade.
The Crumps’ naturals line of products are made in the company’s own GFSI certified facility in Brampton, Ontario, Canada with the exception of its freeze dried products which are made by a Canadian company specializing in freeze drying technology.
Organ meats are a great and natural source of protein, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and essential amino acids. Densely packed with nearly every nutrient your pet needs to thrive, organ meats, such as liver, are loaded with minerals includingphosphorus, iron, copper, magnesium and iodine. They also include the important vitamins A, B, D, E and K, all of which nourish dogs and cats as nature intended.
The great thing about Crumps’ Naturals is its versatility. Our treats are great for all sizes and breeds of dogs or cats and can be broken into any size. Our cat treats come in one size and if desired you can feed a number of them to your cat, depending on the feeding guideline printed on the packaging.
You may notice that the colour or texture has variations from one bag to the next. This occurs because our products are natural and we don’t use fillers, dyes, colours or artificial preservatives. The colour and texture of our treats is largely determined by the meat used in each batch, or the seasonality of the raw materials such as is the case with our Sweet Potato Chews. The time required in our dehydrating process also varies, depending on the meats in each batch and can result in differences in colour and texture. The ingredients and nutrition value in every batch of dehydrated treats remains the same, regardless of the colour or texture of the individual product.
Crumps’ Naturals treats are nutritious and ideal for training and rewarding your pet and depending on your pet’s activity level will determine how many calories your pet should have. We recommend you consider all treats your pet is given each day, and consult the calorie content on the back of the bag and adjust the feeding amount accordingly to compensate for the additional calories being consumed.
Dehydration is the process of a low and slow, gentle process of using warm air to remove water and moisture from raw ingredients to preserve its nutritional integrity. No preservatives are used and the nutrients are still complete. The process of freeze-drying also removes water and moisture but uses a freezing phase, and two drying phases. Freeze drying preserves more of the nutritional content of the raw ingredients but is a more extensive process.
Our patented process of how we prepare our sweet potato provides us with a beautiful colour and a lot of flavour packed into our sweet potato chews. This unique process gives the sweet potato a consistency that dogs love to chew repetitively to get the sweet flavour out of every chew. Learn more about our Sweet Potato Chews here.
The shelf life of our dehydrated treats is two years from the date of manufacture provided it is sealed and stored at room temperature. Please refer to the “Best Before” date printed on all product packaging.
We do not recommend freezing or refrigeration of our treats. When frozen or refrigerated food is placed at room temperature, moisture often condenses on the surface of the food, which could facilitate microbial growth or mold. Crumps’ Naturals products should be stored tightly sealed in its original package or airtight container away from direct sunlight and heat.
All expiration dates are intended as guidelines, just as they are in the human foods you consume every day. In order to establish our expiration dates, we conducted third party shelf life and durability studies to determine if any of the product attributes changed over time or under various conditions. Our guarantee to you is that our product will maintain its integrity through the printed expiration date; but in many cases it can be fed past that date if stored and handled properly.
We recommend you feed our dehydrated food before the printed best before date. However, these dates are intended as guidelines. If the product is not stored in a sealed bag or air-tight container, it can be exposed to air and/or moisture which could cause the product to become dry and brittle, or could create the potential for mold to grow; either of these would be an indicator that the product has not been stored properly, affecting the overall quality.
